Andreas Schroeder is a prolific writer, professor of creative writing at the University of British Columbia, and founding member and former chair of the Writers Union of Canada. He spent eight months in prison following an arrest for possession of hashish. While incarcerated he led poetry workshops in his cell and started work on a memoir detailing his experience, Shaking It Rough.
