Henry Morgentaler was a Polish physician who immigrated to Canada after World War II. He was a prolific abortion rights advocate, establishing numerous abortion clinics across Canada before they were legal. He was arrested in 1973 for his illegal abortion clinics, which was widely protested in support of Morgentaler. The charges were dropped in 1974.
