He was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ontario. Starting on 21 February 1978, he oversaw the case against the Body Politic after obscene materials had been found in a police raid on the newspaper’s offices on 30 December 1977. He rejected the Body Politic’s application to “quash” the search warrant used in the raid. His decision was upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal.
