Rupert Raj was a trans activist who came out in the 70s in Ottawa’s queer community. He earned a B.A. in psychology in 1975, using this degree to counsel transsexual peers throughout North America. Raj founded The Foundation for the Advancement of Canadian Transsexuals in January 1978, which was devoted to public education on the topic of gender dysphoria. In December 1981 he founded Metamorphosis: Gender Counselling-Educational Services.
