Robert Gervais was an Ottawa police sergeant who was part of the city’s morality squad in the 70s. In 1976 Gervais was charged with assault causing bodily harm after a man involved in the Ottawa Sex Scandal alleged that he was assaulted by Gervais during an arrest. The charges were later dropped. In 1977, Gervais ‘won’ a Gays of Ottawa (GO) Homophobe-of-the-year award.
