Ron Basford was Urban Affairs Minister and subsequently Justice Minister during the 70s. He did not support an amendment to the new Canadian Human Rights Act to include protections based on sexual orientation, and disagreed with the movement that was trying to lower the age of consent for homosexuals from 21 to 18.
