William King

William King was B.C.’s Minister of Labour from 1972-75. In 1972, Gay Alliance Towards Equality (GATE) wrote a letter to King recommending amendments to B.C.’s Human Rights Act to protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation. He replied that gay people should not receive the benefit of legal sanction, and repeated this position on several other occasions.
