Ed Jackson joined The Body Politic in October 1971 and eventually became its editor. As an officer of Pink Triangle Press (which published the Body Politic), Jackson was one of three men charged for distributing indecent material in 1978. During the early 1970s he served on the steering committee of Toronto Gay Action and was also a social service counsellor for the Community Homophile Association of Toronto (CHAT), but resigned from the organization along with four other counsellors on Nov. 21, 1972, citing the organization’s limiting structure and conservative goals. He was one of the first six directors of the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
