Dr. Aaron (AKA Holly) Devor is the Chair in Transgender Studies at the University of Victoria, and author of several articles and books on transgender topics. In 1969, Devor was ousted from the radical feminist organization New Feminists (NF) after protesting the group’s anti-lesbian stance, and in 1972 Devor and Ellen Woodsworth started a lesbian drop-in group. Devor was a founder of The Other Woman, Canada’s major feminist newspaper in the 70s. Devor was part of a group of women who planned to open Clementyne’s, a cafe for women, in 1974. It never opened, but the space was instead used by several feminist and lesbian organizations.
