Bob Schisler

He was a gay activist in Toronto. On 18 July 1977 while he was President of Gays at Ryerson (#GAR), he was was arrested alongside David Foreman (#DFOR) for unlawfully distributing handbills (in this case posters for an anti-Anita Bryant protest), and they were both found guilty of wilfull damage. They appealed the ruling, and had their sentences reduced from $300 to $100. On 7 August 1979 he was punched, kicked, and beaten with sticks by a gang of youths in David Balfour Park. Two male members of the gang had been pretending to kiss, while the others hid in wait.
