He was stabbed five times by Pierre Jodoin (#PJOD) while cruising at Major’s Hill Park, Ottawa, on 22 September 1976. In October 1979 the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board refused to compensate Tardif by ruling that he had contributed to his stabbing by going into the bushes with Jodoin, a stranger.
