David Ramsden was a gay activist and leader of the so-called Committee Against Racism and Tackiness (CARAT). He was known for liberating tacky lawn ornaments. These included gnomes, rabbits, flamingos, and lawn ornaments depicting black jockeys and lantern holders. A court case ensued, and landed him a fine of $200.
