Adrienne Potts was a member of the Brunswick Four. In 1974 the group formed after Potts and three other women refused to leave the Brunswick House Tavern in Toronto for singing “I Enjoy Being a Dyke,” which the manager objected to. They were arrested and charged with creating a disturbance and obstructing the police. Potts was convicted of causing a disturbance and sentenced to three months probation. In 1975 she stormed onto the stage at the Miss Canada Pageant to protest the sexism of the event.
