Charles Silverstein

Charles Silverstein received a Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Practice of Psychology. He was one of the few people from the gay liberation movement that petitioned for the removal of homosexuality in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). This resulted in the removal of homosexuality from the DSM in 1973. His book ‘The Joy of Gay Sex’ was banned, burned, and confiscated in America, France, and England.
