D.W. Rowe was a Justice of the Alberta Provincial Court. He ruled in 1975 that a lesbian mother could keep custody of her child and suggested that her homosexuality would not increase the child’s likelihood of becoming a homosexual. This was the first time an open lesbian had been awarded custody in Canadian history.
