Daniel Kautz

He set fire to four religious institutions in Edmonton in February 1980, including a synagogue, a church, a cathedral, and a mausoleum. In total he caused more than $1 million in damages. In psychiatric examination he claimed that he felt persecuted by religion because he was a gay man, and also that he thought he was the Antichrist, and that he howled at the moon when he set the fires. He pleaded guilty to arson and breaking and entering charges, and was put into psychiatric care for four years.
