He was a community worker with Ville Marie Social Services in Montréal. He coordinated Transvestites à Montréal, which formed in 1979. In January 1980 a speech he was supposed to give at Baron Byng High School was cancelled after one teacher threatened to call the police and the press. The speech was entitled “Homosexuality: Exploding the Myth,” and following the cancellation he filed a complaint with the Quebec Human Rights Commission.
