David Scott-Atkinson

David Scott-Atkinson was a major in the British Army in WW2 who later wrote homophobic columns in The Mississauga News. On Oct. 14,1976 he interviewed Harvey Hamburg of Toronto Area Gays on CITY-TV’s program “Free For All.” During the interview he said “I don’t see anything gay about being a fag, a fairy, a poof, or a queer” and “… if somebody gassed your lot, I wouldn’t pause to eat for a second.” These comments immediately resulted in a flood of complaints, and CITY-TV decided to not rebroadcast the segment.
