Denise Goyette

Denise Goyette was a leader of Centre humanitaire d’aide et de liberation and a director of the Service d’entraide homophile de Québec, which provided consultation and referrals to gay men and lesbians for moral, social, familial, and legal problems. On Jan. 23, 1975 she jointly presented a brief for gay rights to the Quebec Assembly’s Justice Committee. In August 1978 she announced the temporary closing of the Service d’entraide homophile de Québec. The closing was to be for one year, and was due to financial difficulties. In January 1981 she opened the Centre pastoral et social du service d’Entraide humanitaire de Québec, a drop-in centre for queers in crisis.
