Earl Reidy

Earl Reidy taught ‘The Sociology of Homosexuality’ at Humber College, which was the first gay studies course in an Ontario community college, starting in 1976. Mainstream media outlets were appalled, and the Toronto Star published a misleading article titled “Homosexuality Taught as Way of Life in Humber Course—Will Make It Easier for Others,” which was propagated by the Canadian Press wire service, and published in newspapers across Canada. In 1977 Reidy was also featured on a television program entitled “Human Sexuality: A Discussion of Alternatives.”
