Edmond R. Hopper was acquitted for the brutal murder of Curtis MacCartney, who was gay. MacCartney was murdered in his Fredericton apartment on 22 Aug. 22,1976. The acquittal took place on November 22 of the same year, and was appealed by the Crown prosecutor.
