He won the 1995 Prix de la justice medal, presented by the Québec Minister of Justice. He was a founder of the Centre for Research-Action on Race Relations (CRARR) which promotes minority access in Québec. He wrote a letter to the Body Politic noting that while 1981 the International Year of the Handicapped, Canada still lacked an organization devoted to the welfare of physically or mentally disabled gays and lesbians.
