He was arrested in February 1979 on five charges of gross indecency with males under nineteen years old, as well as indecent assault charges which were dropped. Because he was convicted of indecent assault 13 years prior, he was labelled a dangerous sexual offender and imprisoned in the Matsqui Federal Penitentiary.
