Ian Maclennan

Ian Maclennan bid for a seat on the Ottawa Board of Education in 1976, one of the first instances of an openly gay person running for public office in Canada. He was a member of Gays of Ottawa and participated in Project Community Outreach in 1975, a project designed to educate people in Ottawa about homosexuality.
