He invited respresentatives of London, Ontario’s gay community organizations to attend a meeting and discuss the formation of an umbrella organization for the local gay community on 24 November 1981. The meeting was attended by 21 people, and led to a follow-up meeting on 17 December, but disagreements between the organizations prevented any further talks.
