Peggy Ann Walpole

Peggy Ann Walpole was an ER nurse during the 1950s. In 1965 she founded Street Haven, a drop-in centre for women (some of which were lesbians) in Toronto. Walpole also opened the city’s first emergency shelter for homeless women.
