He was a heterosexual man who owned both the lesbian bar The Fly-by-Night Lounge and the gay bar The Quest. He had some kind of disagreement with the manager of the Fly-by-Night Lounge, Pat Murphy (#PMUR), and closed the bar on 9 February 1981. After the closure, some members of the gay community chose to boycott the Quest, negatively affecting its business.
