Rob Joyce

Rob Joyce was a gay rights activist in Vancouver and spokesperson for Gay Alliance Towards Equality (GATE), who fought to add sexual orientation protections to Canadian Human Rights legislation. In September 1979 he and a male friend were kicked out of Humphrey’s Lounge at the Denman Place Inn for allegedly kissing and hugging. GATE launched unsuccessful complaints after the incident.
