Roger Bellemare studied law at Laval university and was a member of the Centre homophile urbain de Montreal (CHUM). During the mid-70s he led the ‘Civil Liberties Committee’, which lobbied for the inclusion of sexual orientation in the Quebec Charter of Human Rights.
