Roy McMurtry is a Canadian lawyer and politician. He was Attorney General of Ontario during the 70s and 80s and later Chief Justice of Ontario. During his time in politics, he was often involved in matters related to the gay community. For example, in 1978 sixty people marched outside his office to protest the charges laid against the Body Politic and Pink Triangle Press in January of the same year. And in 1980, McMurtry rejected a proposition by gay-rights activists to permit an independent public inquiry into the February bathhouse raids.
